Year 8 Look at Human Growth in Science Lessons

Science learning in Year 8 is looking at how human bodies change. We have looked at the different stages of growth.

A recent activity involved the pupils identifying where changes take place during puberty. We looked at sweating, body hair growth, changes in our voice and changes to our skin.

The class members worked together to point out whereabouts on the body these changes take place. This was a very visual piece of learning with a body imposed on some photographs of the pupils’ heads.

Individual written work followed this activity. The Year 8 students were asked to write a complete sentence to describe the changes they are learning about.

One example is:

When I grow through puberty I sweat in my armpits.
