Pop Art Designs in Year 9

Pop Art is the main art theme for the Year 9 students. We are working towards designing and creating a giant sweet in a Pop Art style.

Students have already looked at the work of Andy Warhol. We have seen out he created portraits using strong primary colours.

The students have recreated this style of art. We used the Photo Booth software to create a self-portrait. This was then manipulated to add different primary colours. Our friends were asked to give feedback on our work.

The second artist that we are researching is Roy Lichtenstein. Students have been learning how he used onomatopoeic words in his artwork. Examples of this include Boom!

The next stage of our learning will be to look at some of the powerful fonts and colours used in some classic sweet designs. We will use this as the inspiration as part of our art modelling.
