Year 10 are having plenty of fun as well as learning new skills during their food tech lessons. A recent session saw chicken, chips and coleslaw on the menu.
The focus was for the students to feel confident whilst working independently, as well as taking responsibility for their own workspace.
Our first task was to turn the oven on. The students then progressed through a worksheet, collecting all the ingredients needed for the recipe.
Our chicken was marinated in coconut milk. The chips were prepared prepared with some careful chopping skills. The coleslaw was made by grating carrots and cabbage.
Some written work was completed whilst our chicken and chips were cooking in the oven. The students are asked to predict what our food might taste like. There was a focus on using words to describe the sensory taste and texture of the meal.
