The Year 12 students recently completed an independent piece of food tech learning. They prepared and cooked a Chinese stir fried rice dish. All students were encouraged to work with little adult support.
The first task was to cook our rice. We spoke first about how this is not as easy as it might seem. Some secrets were shared such as adding the correct amount of water and not allowing the rice to burn.
We then started to prepare the chicken and vegetables. Onions were sliced, carrots were grated. These were then fried. We mixed an egg with some soy sauce and then added the chicken.
Once our chicken stir fry rice was ready, an evaluation took place. The dish was then taken home for family and friends to also enjoy.
