Year 13 Prepare Caesar Salad in Food Tech

A tasty Caesar salad was on the menu for a recent Year 13 food tech session. This is part of our current work looking at healthy eating and a healthy diet.

The students were able to complete every stage on the recipe sheet. This included making the croutons out of bread, preparing a salad dressing, and cooking the chicken.

Some of the skills that we needed involved chopping and grating, as well as being able to judge when our chicken was cooked and safe to eat.

The students were also asked to be able to balance different stages of their preparation. Whilst the chicken pieces were cooking we used this time to prepare the rest of our salad.

The session ended with an evaluation. We wanted to know what had worked well, and what skills the students need to improve for future sessions.
