A recent Landsdowne School Council meeting had many items on the agenda. Two students from each class continue to meet with other Councillors online each week. Head of School Mr Juckes chairs these meetings.
The Councillors were asked to speak with their class friends about possible ideas for an end of year school trip. With lockdown restrictions easing, we are keen to reward the hard work throughout the school year with a safe, class trip.
School Council also discussed how the new playground arrangements are working out. Mr Juckes was keen to find out if pupils are progressing on the new range of big bikes that the school has bought. We received some great feedback on our amazing new adventure trail.
The school has also purchased a set of steel pans for the pupils to play. School Council had a conversation discussing the sound that these instruments make. We thought about how we can share this new resource.
The next item on the agenda was some ideas for after school clubs when they return. We hope to be able to offer these when the Covid restrictions ease further. One of the Councillors spoke about how his class friends are keen to take part in an after-school drama club.
Mr Juckes thanked school Councillor Amy for her help in the school library. We also heard how Year 8 are very excited ahead of their online assembly taking place on Friday.
School council ended with a discussion on the arrangements for the Film Club taking part ahead of the half term break. All students who have worked hard throughout the past half term are rewarded with a screening of a special film. We will be staging this in a Covid safe setting.
