Year 8 Create Wire Puppets in Art Lessons

The Year 8 pupils have finished their art research topic on puppets. We have moved onto the practical part of this learning. Each class member has designed their own wireframe puppet.

We are now transferring our initial sketches into puppets that we are making.

We used wire to twist together and hold the main body shape. Newspaper and tape was then added around each limb to sculpture the body form.

Mod rock was added to create a papier-mâché head and body. The final stage is to paint our own designs onto the puppets. The class members have been asked to match up their exact sketches with the puppets.

We hope to be able to stage a Year 8 puppet show once our models are completed.
