Maths Counting and Fun & Games in Year 8

The Year 8 students have wasted no time in showing their enthusiasm for maths learning after the summer break. The pupils have returned keen to recap their existing knowledge.

Our lessons usually start with a counting song. The class members sing together all the way through to 100.

Different table activities then follow, depending on the learning targets for each pupil. Some class members are root counting through to 5. Others are able to root count beyond 10.

A higher level group is counting in multiples of 25 and 10’s. Finally the top ability group are showing a great understanding of working in multiples of four, eight, 50 and 100.

Our maths lessons always end by playing some games with our friends. We have many new maths games resources for the Year 8 students to enjoy.
