Weekly Rehearsals for the Lansdowne School Choir

The Lansdowne School Choir has returned after the half term break with our regular Friday morning rehearsals. These are led by our expert choir tutor, Miss Kirstie.

There is an open invitation for students throughout school to join the Lansdowne Choir. It’s great to see a healthy turnout for each session.

We usually start with a stretching routine to help get us in the mood for singing. The song Come on Everybody also helps to warm up our vocal chords.

The Choir is continuing to learn the traditional African song Amawole. We are also learning the more contemporary song Happier. This involves the Choir split into two as we sing in the round. The makaton signs are used so that everyone can join in.

A final song that has been introduced by Miss Kirstie is It’s Alright. We listened to the opening few chords on the guitar. The choir was asked if anybody recognised the tune. We had plenty of suggestions, with some detailed answers about which film this song is from.

The Choir will continue to gain confidence throughout the rest of the term. We are hopeful of a performance in our weekly school assemblies before the end of term.
