The Year 8 pupils are focusing on working independently as part of their daily guided reading. Each class member is set a different task to meet their individual learning targets.
One of our current reading challenges involves filling in the missing words to complete a sentence. Other work involves correctly ordering the days of the week.
Some of the higher ability Year 8 pupils have started work on a comprehension exercise. They are reading a short passage, and then answering using complete sentences. We have made this work interesting with the subject matter about our friends.
Handwriting is another important part of our daily guided reading. The pupils are asked to take responsibility for organising their work. They know where to collect new work from, and where to file away completed work that needs to be marked.
