Year 9 Buddhist Research

DSC01703

Our recent humanities work in Year 9 has involved researching and learning all about the Buddhist religion. We started off this learning by watching a short film that explained the origins of the religion.

A class discussion then followed. Questions about some of the Buddhist beliefs were asked by James and Miss Cook. We kept a bullet point list on the whiteboard to help remember the key beliefs held by Buddhists.

The written work for the activity involved exploring a number of written and photographic resources. These were placed on the classroom tables for the students to investigate. The first piece of written work required the Year 9 pupils to design an information sheet to pass on the knowledge that we now know about Buddhism.

Year 9 will continue to look at Buddhism for the remainder of the summer term. Over the next couple of weeks the pupils will start to learn about the laws of Buddhism and the Noble Truths.
